Book Review...

The New World Kingdom of Heaven by Frieda Dowler was our Book Club book for the month of June. I was so happy to be able to read a local authors' work and have her come to our meeting to discuss her book. It was fascinating to hear how she came up with the idea and her process of writing the book!



The basic idea of the story is that our world is becoming over populated, therefore using up all of our natural resources. The government is working on how to solve the problem. Their grand plan is to send all of the Christians to a space station that have secretly been building for years.

They figure that is they get rid of the Christians, they will be able to control the population by promoting abortion and same sex marriage.



The 3 main characters of the book graduated from IU. It shows what directions their lives went after they graduated. One is a power hungry fool. One is very smart, but lost, and wants to forgive herself for past mistakes. The other is a minister who went through hard times, but got through everything with even more faith.



This story weaves together so many ideas on the government, our society, and our environment that is fascinating! I am hoping that the story is too far fetched to happen, but it really makes you think. There are people living around the world today who cannot speak of their faith in Jesus without being imprisoned, or even killed. How sad that is... I pray that it won't happen here, but we don't know what will happen.


I am looking forward to learning even more about these characters and what happens to "The New World." Frieda is working on more books to follow. I told her I will definitely read them!
