Coffee Filters...More than just for coffee

Many of you may know my love for coffee. I am a little obsessed with it! Because of my coffee obsession, I always have coffee filters on hand. Did you know that one of my favorite crafts for little ones involved coffee filters!?
Take a washable marker, color the coffee filter different colors, then spray with water. The colors blead together...sooooo pretty! Make a bunch of them. Let them dry, then stack them and twist the bottom of the stack together and secure with a pipe cleaner for an instant flower. So much fun!

Sanctuary of Shelbyville

This year, we are encouraging giving to our community, so we have chosen a variety of different non profits to help throughout the year. January, we are helping  Sanctuary of Shelbyville, Inc..
SOS provides transitional housing for victims of domestic violence. Their mission statement is compassion, safety, comfort.
Most of the residents live there for 6 months to 18 months while getting on their feet to be able to live independently from their abuser. Once that happens, they are able to go out on their own.
All month long, when you make a donation to Sanctuary of Shelbyville at our studio, you will get a giftcertificate to The Art of Kira Studios in that same amount good from Feb. 2015 forward. Donate $20, get a $20 gift certificate, etc. also. We are having a special event on Jan 17! More details to come!!!

Back to School Ideas: Recipes

One of my favorite and my 7 yr old daughters favorite food is Quesadillas! Quesadillas can be a great meal or snack depending on what all you stuff them with. Morgans favorite happens to be just plain old cheese quesadilla. We use colby jack cheese and she loves to dip it in salsa! I of coure love this too...( who does t love cheese!?) But, i also stuff them with all kinds of goodies! Veggies, meat, and sauces are great for quesadillas. I love it when i make bbq shredded chicken. I stuff a quesadilla with the bbq chicken, cheese, and dip in ranch! These are all simple ideas, but sometimes it is nice to be reminded of new ideas for simple foods. :)

Quesadillas:
Soft tortilla shells
Fixins
Take one tortilla and top with fixins, cover with another tortilla and heat in pan until gooey and bubbly and light brown on the outside
