Barnes and Noble...

Tonight my husband and I went out on a date to dinner and a movie. Before the movie we had a little time, so we went in to see the new Barnes and Noble in Greenwood because I hadn't seen it yet. WOW. The place is HUGE! The kids' section I think is bigger than my entire store. It made me feel like my store was puny and not important. The place was packed with all kinds of people there. It reminded me of the movie "You've Got Mail." The scene where Kathleen goes to Fox Books right after she had to close her kids' book store. She sits in the kids' section of this mega book store in tears and feels un important.

Anyway, I picked up a new crossword puzzle book for my mom and went to the counter to pay. A very nice woman checked me out and at the end told me that she liked my purse. I replied that I got it at Kira's Cottage, the Christian Book Store in Franklin. She said she had been there before and really liked it, and tries to go often because she really enjoys it. I felt bad because I didn't recognize her, but she really made my night. Here we are standing in a HUGE book store, and this nice woman said that she really enjoyed our small store in Franklin. I felt like even though we are not as huge as this mega bookstore, Barnes and Noble, maybe our little store has made an impact. I am blessed by what the Lord has given me. Though it is hard at times to run the store, especially in the slow times, I am thankful that I have had this opportunity...
