Not what I expected at all...Didn't know the story, but was disheartened by it. The basic story is Julia Roberts character is trying to "find herself." She was in an unhappy marriage, so she left him to travel the word to find out who she was supposed to be. She explored different religions and met many different people to find out what the meaning of life is...She turned to God only when her life was upside down and miserable.
Unfortunately I think that is what too many of us might do. Our lives are torn to pieces so we cry out to God. "God, help me! What do I do?" The probelm with that is that may be the only time we cry out to Him. That is a problem.
The Lord wants us all the time. He wants to be in our life everyday. Ups and downs, happy and sad, laughter and tears, He wants to be right there with us. But if we don't let Him in, we think He isn't there.
He is there, we just aren't listening. Things are good, we are happy, why do we need Him? He is just for life's struggles, right? WRONG!
The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalm 46:6-8 (New International Version)
The God of Jacob is our FORTRESS. I decided to look up fortress and the definition says:
any place of exceptional security; stronghold-a place or source of refuge or support
Exceptional security and stronghold. A place of refuge and support. AWESOME! That is what He is. He is our fortress EVERYDAY.
Let Him be your fortress everyday. Let him surround you, love you, protect you, be with you...Let Him in!
